NEW FROM OCTOBER 2021 - 1 TO 1 TRAINING
Would you like to understand what your dog is telling you and enjoy a calmer, happier life together?
Sometimes it is stressful to see some dogs listening to their owners when yours is not concentrating or barking at other dogs and pulling on the lead when taking your daily walk. Or you don’t understand why your dog does not come back to you when you call them, 5 times, 8 times, 10 times……☹
I feel your pain! Hi, my name is Tracey Ordish and I am the Owner/Head Trainer at Dishy K9 Care & Train and me and my family have all found a love of dogs through our own furry friend, a black Labrador named Joey whom we have had since he was a puppy. My husband Mike, (Dish or Dishy to his friends) has also had dogs in his family growing up and states that no home is complete without a furry companion! So True!
We enjoyed learning with Joey at Puppy Classes and had the basic training covered…….or so we thought!! No-one told us that in a few months, Joey would be a teenage hoodlum!! Chewing carpets, not listening to the basic training we had learned together and literally turning our lives upside down!
Were we wrong to bring a puppy into our lives??
No, we were not!!!! Although it felt it at the time believe me!
How Dishys K9 Care was born - Due to my son’s anxiety issues, I needed to find a job from home and after hearing a family member talk about Dog Day Care and with our love for Joey and other dogs, Dishys K9 Care was born.
Ever since starting the business in 2017, we have loved everything dogs show us and how we need to understand them more. Don’t get me wrong, we have experienced lots of stressful issues with dogs within our dog boarding service.
Here are some examples. Can you relate?:
1. Barking and lunging towards other dogs or people whilst on lead!
2. Pulling so hard whilst on a walk that your arm feels sore and you feel that you have been taken for a walk, not the dog!
3. Growling or lashing out at other dogs or people, including most of the members of my family, when they have food or toys!
4. Jumping up to food on the sideboard in the kitchen and trying (or succeeding in) stealing the food!
5. Barking at every noise they can hear!
These issues made me think in the beginning that they were just being naughty dogs. I was so wrong!
Having been on a journey of discovery into the world of dog training I have realised how amazing dogs are and how we can help them achieve so much with kindness, understanding and positivity. I enrolled with the Dunbar Academy and the Dog Training College in 2020 and I learned so much from the experts on their courses that I decided to become a dog trainer!!!
I definitely understand Joey and the dogs who have boarded with us a lot better and I feel that I need to help dog owners understand their dogs better.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a more enjoyable relationship with your furry one and to feel confident in helping them with their issues?
Are you ready for a better life with your pal?

With kind regards, Tracey xx
Hi, my name is Mike Ordish and I am Tracey's husband and Part Time Trainer at Dishy K9 Care & Train. As Tracey mentioned above I have grown up with dogs in my family and I think back to my dog, Amber who was a German Shephard mix rescue dog. She was nervous of other dogs and I wish I knew then what I know now. We learned to manage her anxiety at the time rather than helping her achieve confidence.
I enrolled, along with Tracey, to the Dunbar Academy in 2020, run by world leading Dog Trainer, Dr Ian Dunbar as I believe in his methods of using kind and caring communication with dogs. I have also learned a lot from the Dog Training College, where Tracey is a Member as I have been learning along with her.
We are both keen to work with dogs and owners to achieve a happy and calmer life together so that's why we are joining the Training World as Trainers.
"My Speciality Service!"
Does your dog shy away from or seem nervous around men in general?
Sometimes it is stressful if your dog barks and lunges or tries to run and hide from men. We see it a lot with dogs from other countries or from rescue centres.
Within our dog boarding service, we saw quite a lot of dogs who were nervous around men. I saw this as an opportunity to help them with that while they stayed with us. I gave them space to get to know me and never approached them or forced them to approach me. I found that with this understanding, patience and communication, that the dogs soon realised I was not a threat to them and I enjoyed lots of cuddles after a few days of getting to know each other.
Would you like help and support to reduce your dogs fears around men?
Then contact me for more information and to achieve a more positive life with your nervous dog…..
With kind regards, Mike xx
As mentioned, Joey is our Labrador whom we have raised since he was a puppy. We have had lots of behaviours thrown at us from Joey and he communicates to us regularly. We have learned so much from him and are still learning now. It never hurts to go back to basics, does it Joey?
We call Joey our 'Ambassador' as he teaches us natural behaviours every day and also when we are going about things wrong!
Thank you Joey xxx

"I would like to recommend Sheena and Keith at Dishys K9. Our dog Mabel adores going to stay with them and is thoroughly entertained, exercised and loved! I feel so relaxed when I drop her off as I know she is always excited to go there and will have an amazing holiday too. We get lots of updates, video clips and photo’s which always puts our mind at rest that she is happy, busy and in great hands. I can not recommend them enough. Their experience, love and care towards dogs is so evident and treat each dog as they would their own. Thankyou Sheena and Keith"
Sheena and Keith adopted Pip in February 2019 following his stay with them due to his owner's ill health.
Pip loves his life with Sheena and Keith.
Skye is a lovely Jack Russell cross who belongs to Sheena's mum, Hilary. Skye and Hilary live with Sheena and Keith and help out with the dogs who are boarding with them.
